Apr 16, 2010 · The recent acquisition of my Kenwood turntable which came with this cartridge has forced me to re-evaluate the AT95E over an earlier evaluation that probably wasn't long enough in retrospect! After acquiring a new elliptical stylus for the AT95E I decided to conduct a more extensive technical and listening evaluation. A small part of me does regret not shelling out for the RT85 for the acrylic platter and better stylus, but the platter probably doesn’t make a lot of sonic difference (does look cool tho) and the 2M Blue, while a nice cart, isn’t the last word in cartridge upgrades. As above, you can upgrade all the way up to an OM40 just by swapping out the stylus. One thing the AT95E has going for it is an easy and relatively inexpensive stylus upgrade path. I was tempted to buy just a ML stylus to throw on one of my E carts as an upgrade but not worth it if not the full upgrade.
